Kristen earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Northern Arizona University. While completing her education, she worked in a shelter aimed to serve at-risk children and adolescents. Kristen also worked for a non-profit organization, providing support services for children and families who were involved with the Department of Child Safety. Many of the adults in the families she worked with struggled with substance abuse. Additionally, she has worked with kinship foster care providers. Kristen’s experience and understanding of substance dependence has not only been professional, but is a concept that exists in her family system. She has an in-depth understanding of the 12 steps as she is actively involved in Al-Anon. Her personal and professional experience allows her to understand the importance of playing a supportive role in the lives of those in alcohol and drug recovery.
